My list of distractions for 2019

When I look back at 2019 and think about the number of quilts I finished, it's very low.  You could count them on one hand.

But then I think about all the other things I made in 2019, and I feel happy with the variety of things I worked on in 2019. If I spent the equivalent of a month on each one of these 9 things, then I would only have had 3 months available for quilting!

Here are some of the non quilty things I made in 2019, with links to my blog posts about them where applicable:

Bowl Me Over bag from Patterns by Annie

Giraffes tapestry cushion by Kim McLean

Kaffe Fassett scarf by Rowan

Woolly hat - pattern from Big Wool Knits by Rowan

Gingerbread retreat cottage

Sashiko table runner

Smoyg

Whole cloth cushion

When I think about all the hours spent making these things, I realise why I didn't finish many quilts!

But I enjoyed making these things, and that's what counts. Do you have a favourite from this mix?

I think your Sashiko table runner is my fave. It's something that I could look at for a very long time and not grow tired of! How wonderful to have such an eclectic representation of all your stitching fun.:)

These items are all fabulous! My favorites are the Bowl Me Over Bag, the Kaffe Fasset scarf and the giraffes, because I’m a huge fan of bright colors. I’d say you should be quite pleased with yourself!

I love the Gingerbread house, but so many favourites one can’t choose. Did you do a Silver Challenge Wendy?

I just love that Sashiko! you got a lot done even if it wasn't quilts - I think I made at least 3 crochet blankets this year besides the quilts - variety is fun

My favourite is the giraffe cushion. I started out with cross-stitch, moved to embroidery and from there to quilting - so I have a soft spot for cross-stitch and tapestry. I love the bright colours in your cushion.

I think all of your projects are lovely, can't select a favorite. Most of your projects are made with hand work. Hand work just takes longer but is so satisfying! Quilting isn't a race to see who can make the most projects in a year, even though a lot of quilters seem to think that way. Quilting is a hobby to fulfill our creativity. I enjoy reading about all your projects. Don't feel guilty that you didn't complete a lot of projects. What you have completed are all beautiful treasures. I'm looking forward to seeing progress on Ballet with Kaffe in 2020! Happy Stitching!

I think my favorite is always the gingerbread houses. The projects you worked on are diverse. You post a lot and it's good to see that you have a variety of interests. Though I don't comment a lot, I enjoy your blog.
Merry Christmas

Isn't it great to have so many skills to fall back on? For me, I began sewing clothes when I was 13 years old, and then fell into all the rest as I went along - macramé, needlepoint, crewel embroidery, knitting, crocheting, tatting, tole painting, counted cross-stitch, smocking, quiltmaking, and so on. It's really wonderful to have that creative urge, and whether it's focused on quiltmaking or something else, it's worthy of praise! I'm glad for you to be so multi-talented. Your pieces are gorgeous, and you can be very proud of yourself! Yay for Wendy!

It's so nice to see such a variety of handmade items. You are very diversified which really means you have talents aplenty. Not a bad thing. They are each very pretty and I've enjoyed seeing all of them.
