If you're planning on visiting the World Quilt Show in Springfield, Massachusetts, this weekend, you might want to keep an eye out for my Vibrant Curiosities quilt. It is one of the quilts from New Zealand in the exhibition. This is the first time I've entered this competition. I'm not totally sure of how this show works, but I do know that New Zealand, Australia, Japan and Germany get to send a certain number of quilts to the show. I was thrilled to have my quilt chosen.
Vibrant Curiosities is made with mainly Tula Pink fabrics, and is English Paper Pieced and hand quilted. It's lovely and soft, and drapes beautifully due to the wool batting. You can read more about it here.

I have always loved this quilt, the navy sashing really sets it off! Congratulations on it's world tour :)
I love this quilt - the blue sets all of those color/patterns off so well. Your hand quilting is always so nice and neat. With a pattern like that for EPP do you thread baste or glue baste? Normally with pieces 1 inch or less I thread baste (not through the papers) but with larger pieces I glue baste - but I will most likely not be doing EPP any more with anything larger than 1 inch - my hands just do not work so well with holding the pieces and get sore.

Such an honor for you, Wendy! Though I know that it came at a great expense though. These quilt shows are not free, and shipping costs can be exorbitant. Still, it's certainly a moment when you can take great pride in your accomplishments. To EPP and hand quilt such a beauty is a huge act of dedication. Congratulations!

I love this quilt and all the variety that is included and enjoyed going back and rereading about it's beginnings. Your handwork always amazes me as I don't have the motivation to do it even though I love the results.

I usually go to the Pennsylvania show so I will look for your quilt, it will be exciting to see a quilt made by someone I "know" on the internet! I'll take a photo.
So cool! How long did the hand quilting take? I'm in the middle of micro-hand quilting a throw quilt at the moment. It's taking awhile but I really love how it drapes. I had thought I would abandon hand quilting after this one but you do it so regularly so it can't take you that long.

Hi Wendy-- I saw your beautiful quilt in person today in Santa Clara, California!!! It was at the Pacific International Quilt Festival. They had it hanging against a dark drape so it really sparkled. Best of all, it looks like a real quilt--the kind you want to cuddle up with and take a nap with happy dreams. Thank you for sharing it and letting it go on tour.
