I started this quilt way back at Christmas 2014, after carefully considering if I could really hand sew a big quilt like this. I decided to take the plunge, and I'm very glad I did because I've really enjoyed the process, and learnt a lot about colour and pattern.
I always knew I would hand quilt my la passacaglia because I thought if I was going to hand piece a quilt in a traditional manner, I would hand quilt in a traditional manner too.

I'm not quite sure where I'm going to put this quilt yet, but it's already got a hanging sleeve on the back, so I just need to find a clear wall space out of the sun.

And yes, I am already thinking about my next millefiori quilt. I already have the templates and paper pieces for Ballet Avec Kaffe Fassett from Willyne's second book - Millefiori Quilts 2. But I know she's working on a third book so I better get a wriggle on.

PS I did enter my quilt in QuiltMania's competition, but my quilt wasn't one of those chosen by the publishers to hang at the International Quilt Festival in Houston this year. I'm thrilled that my mum's quilt was chosen though, and look forward to seeing photos of it there.

I actually found you blog by trying to find Passagaglia quilts and how others quilted them. I have to say in my opinion yours is my favorite of all I have seen and I am sad it did not get selected for Houston. The colors you chose just say happiness and joy. Do try to enter it in other shows as I think it is show worthy. The one I quilted is going (I just can't believe it). I will be at the show and will take photos of all the the Passagalia quilts there so will see the one your Mother made. Hers is really pretty too.

You should be very proud of this quilt Wendy- its absolutely beautiful!! I love the border you constructed. Was it fussy cut from a Kaffe fabric? And it deserves to be hung where plenty of people can see it- A quilt show would have been a great start, but it wasn't to be.....

Congratulations on completion of this quilt. It has been a great pleasure to see the progress over the last couple of years. I love the border fabric and have some of my own that I am hoarding. Your quilt gives me an idea of how it will look when I use it. Your mother's quilt is lovely too. Who knows how judges decide which quilts to include in an exhibit. I don't know if I could choose.

Such a vision to see it finally completed, border on, quilted. Will you be hanging it on a large wall to admire or actually be used on a bed? Shame that it wasn't selected for publication, but bonus that your Mum's quilt was. When people view this, sometimes they flick past quickly after they "ohhed" and "ahhed" for a moment, but the hours of pleasure you must have had making it, make it masterpiece in my eyes. Congratulations on a wonderful quilt.
