Pandemic Sampler by Long Dog Samplers (3rd post)

It's been quite a while since I showed you my Pandemic Sampler.

I'm very happy with my progress to date.

I've managed to stitch my way down to the bottom left hand corner and complete the 2020 date.  I really wanted to stitch that bit before the end of 2020.  I know this sampler won't be finished before the end of the year, but it was important to me to stitch "2020" while we were still in 2020, and in the pandemic.

I've taken care to cross reference my stitching double check that the placement is correct.  I vowed last time not to stitch out in open areas without cross checks in place, so I stitched down the left hand margin to be sure my counting was correct.  Thankfully I've had minimal mistakes to date.

Here's the full view again - I've done more than a quarter, but less than half.

Some people have finished this sampler already!!! But there's no point in me stitching too fast or I'll run out of thread! The wholesaler in NZ doesn't have any more in stock and they're waiting for a new shipment (and I mean it's coming on a ship - not a plane).  Also, I want to enjoy the process and not feel that I'm rushing through it.

I'm using 2 strands of black silk on 28 count linen.

Pandemic pattern is by Long Dog Samplers.

Now it's time for the Peacock Party. What have you been up to this week? Feel free to link up a recent blog post below.

That is beautiful! I used to do a lot of cross-stitch back in the '70s and still have some of it hanging on my walls but had to give it up when I could no longer see very well, made a lot of mistakes and no longer enjoyed it. But even with my corrected vision at it's best I don't think I could have seen well enough to stitch on 28 count. Well done!!

Wow, you're really coming along! I love the plan to quilt 2020 while still in 2020. That makes it feel official!

Your sampler is simply impressive, Wendy. I admire your commitment to it. If I was stitching this, I think I'd be tired of using the same color thread... but then, that would lessen the chance of stitching the wrong color in the wrong place! Sorry to hear about the slow boat delivery of more thread. I understand that's the way things are going here in the US too. Certainly that's the reason we're being urged to send gifts early. This year, it's gonna be extra difficult to do Christmas long distance. In any case, I wish you the best with your stitchery. I don't think you need to "hurry" to get it finished before the pandemic ends.

Your sampler is truly amazing Wendy - I don't think I've seen anything like it - and will be a real keepsake. Good for you for choosing not to rush it - life is more that a series of TO DO lists - enjoy the ride!
