Little Houses Quilt

I was flicking through Kaffe Fassett's "Kaleidoscope of Quilts" at my mum's house over Easter, and I saw the Little Boxes Quilt. I liked the way that the maker had chosen stripy fabrics for some of the houses, and I started thinking about what I could use to make something similar in a different colour way.  Here's the photo from the book:

Then I remembered the beautiful Kaffe wovens I'd bought from a guild member at our January sales day.

As soon as I returned to Wellington, I dug out the wovens and started adding some complementary fabrics.  I always like to pull too many options, and then narrow it down later.

I don't know what I'll use for the sky yet, but I do like these colours together.

Now it's time for the Peacock Party. What have you been up to this week?  Feel free to link up a recent blog post below.

Backgound idea--how about a night sky with black/white polka dots? Can't wait to see this quilt as it unfolds.

I like the Kaffe quilt even though the houses do not stand out so much like some that I have seen - it is a nice design

Those little houses remind me of beach houses (I think that's what they are called). I like the fabric you've chosen and it will be interesting to see this quilt develop.

That Kaffe quilt is gorgeous and I cannot wait to see your interpretation of it. I love those fabrics you've chosen and those 2 (almost scaley looking ones) are super striking.

Your fabric pull is a great start to this lovely quilt! They are like little beach huts on Brighton Beach!

That will look amazing, Wendy. Are you thinking of using the yellow for the "sky" or is that too impressionist/van Gogh? :) I think yellow makes purples pop.
