Introducing the Peacock Party

On 16 December it will be exactly five years since I started blogging. Since then I've published 366 blog posts - an average of 1.4 per week - and gained many loyal friends and followers.  What started out as an online diary and way to share with family and friends, has now become a means to connect with quilters all over the world.  Thank you everyone who has taken the time to read my posts!

My largest single source of blog visitors has been from Crazy Mom Quilts blog, via her finish it up Friday link party. However, this Friday is going to be the last ever link party at Crazy Mom Quilts because Amanda Jean is closing her quilting business, and won't be blogging anymore.  It certainly will be the end of an era and I thank Amanda Jean for hosting the link up for so many years.

I know a lot of people will miss the Crazy Mom Quilts link party, so I've decided to dip my toes in the water and start a link party myself.  Fellow bloggers can link up to my brand new Peacock Party each weekend and share what they've been up to.

Why the name "Peacock Party" you ask? Well, a number of my friends call me Mrs Peacock because I love of the rich jewel tones found in peacock feathers.  I'm not especially fond of the birds themselves, but I do love the beautiful colours in their feathers. And a link up party is a way to show off our accomplishments to anyway who is prepared to look - much like a peacock does when they fan their tails!

The Ehrman tapestry I stitched called Peacock at Sunset

I'm going to keep the Peacock Party quite simple, because some days we have more time for reading blogs than other days, so:
- I'm not going to tell you that you need to visit and comment on other linked up posts
- I'm not going to demand that you mention my blog in your blog post
- I'm not even going to commit to visiting and commenting on every post myself!
- I'm not going to try and sell you anything because I don't have anything to sell

But I am going to provide a place where fellow bloggers can meet and share what they've been making.  Does that sound like a good idea?

The first Peacock Party starts now!  I intend to run one each weekend - starting on Friday PST / Saturday NZ time.  I do hope you will join me.

This is a great idea Wendy. Thank you for providing this relaxed link up each week.

Sorry Wendy. I can't link up as I use neither FB nor G+. I don't recognise the Inlinkz format that is asking for my email password.

I am so glad you stepped into the fray. I got major traffic from the Crazy Mom Quilts linkups, so it will be a loss for me too.
The peacock pillow is stunning.
I am doing a Countdown to Christmas so be sure to stop by!

I love link parties and like to go visiting. We'll miss Amanda. I hate when a blogger flees the platform and hate IG even more. thanks for creating the Peacock Linky Party.
xx, Carol

Hi Wendy, I too have found Amanda to be the source of my traffic. I'm keen to connect with other NZer's. I have been questioning the use of my blog as over half my followers are now masquerading and are actually russian sex sites and bloglovin does not allow you to remove followers. So I am going to follow you somehow else and remove myself from Bloglovin altogether. :) Looking forward to your new step. Cheers Karen

What a lovely effort on your part, Wendy! Yes, we will all miss CrazyMomQuilt's blog, but I'm glad to see someone else taking on this time to get acquainted. Thank you for that! Those of us who blog are all sort of "preening peacocks," aren't we? I've been blogging for 10 years, come January! Can't believe it! Seems like I ought to have a party or giveaway of some sort, doesn't it?

Oh, a new link party! Some years ago I made a bargello piece in peacock-feather colors. I used DMC floss (it takes a lot to fill the holes in needlepoint canvas). No reason other than I wanted to see the jewel colors together.

Congratulations on your blogging anniversary. The years fly by! (My first blog post was in December, 2007.)
