It's Spring time in Wellington and I enjoyed a lovely walk at Oriental Bay this week. We're very lucky to have a sheltered beach within walking distance of Wellington city. There's no surf at Oriental Bay because it's within the harbour, but it's a very popular with swimmers and families in the summer.
There are lots of lovely Spring flowers in my garden.
Camelia |
Vireya rhododendron or Azelea |
Echium |
Flowering Cherry tree |
My mum sent me a photo of the wisteria growing on her fence. It looks gorgeous too.
Wisteria |
All these flowers remind me of the wool felt applique cushions I made from Wendy Williams book - Wild Blooms and Colorful Creatures.
I know a lot of you are preparing for winter, but we are looking forward to longer days and lots of outdoor living. It's almost time to dust off the BBQ again.
You are in spring with all those beautiful flowers and here in the UK we are in autumn with winter fast approaching, sigh........ Beautiful wool appliqué cushions, I love the colour mix.
ReplyDeleteJust lovely cushions;)) and flowers blooming. Here in the Northeast USA
ReplyDeletewe are soon into Winter..so our gardens are all faded...but our leaves have begun their annual last gasp of coloration--hugs, Julierose
It's wonderful to have a look around your part of the world! I love New Zealand, but only visited the south island when we traveled there. Your harbor beach is so nice, as are the views of Wellington. And your flowers! My goodness. So lush, and so colorful. I can only imagine what all of Wellington is looking like right now. Now go have a cuppa for me, and my visit will be complete. (Adore your coffee, and the clever foam designs on top!)
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to crisp fall days (they are slow to come to my part of the world this year) and pretty leaves, but your spring flowers are gorgeous, and it’s fun to think that spring is breaking out somewhere in the world.
ReplyDeleteLove the flower photos - especially the vireya in your lovely blue pot and your Mum's wisteria - gorgeous! Mine have just finished flowering, shame their blooming season is so short.
