Mum's Lucy Boston and the Peacock Party

We're back! Our son's graduation went well, and we all enjoyed some family time together in Auckland.

I got to study mum's Lucy Boston quilt, and talk about border options with her.  The body of the quilt is all complete now, but she was waiting to hear what I thought about her border choice.  I liked the piece of fabric she had chosen, but suggested she use a different part of the fabric and keep it lighter rather than darker and heavier looking.

This is what we agreed on.

Of course she will have to buy more fabric now to mitre the corners, but isn't that always the way!

Mum helped me out by darning in the ends on my scarf.  It's not finished yet, but it was a huge help to get those ends darned in because it's a very long scarf.  The weather has certainly turned colder and I'd like to be wearing it now.

I went to All Things Bernina at Westgate and bought a few bright Anna Maria Horner prints there.  I do love that lime green colour.

Mum's garden in winter.  It's rains a lot in Auckland in winter.

I love your mum's fabrics choices! Is she going to hand quilt this one?

I'm redoing my comment--my mistake! Anyway, your mum's LB quilt is looking astounding! Love that border option. And such a colorful scarf! It looks like a fun knit, working with all those colors. Some beautiful new fabric additions, too!

Hi Wendy! I'm happy for you to have celebrated graduation with your family. It's such a special time. And spending time with your mum too... you are so fortunate! Appreciate these occasions with her, and her help with your scarf. :-) It's nice to have an extra pair of hands to help, isn't it? Had to smile about your Krispy Kreme Donuts view, as I just blogged about Krispy Kreme! I adore their donuts and because June 7 is National Donut Day, I had to talk about it. Also, that Pikachu... I wouldn't have known what it was last week! But happily, that was remedied last Sunday when I took two of my grandsons to "Pokemon: Pikachu Detective." Pikachu is a cute, though sometimes annoying, character.

Thanks for continuing to host Peacock Party. I appreciate being able to share my stuff, but also lament how few people are commenting these days. Us bloggers are few and far between, and commenters are even less so.

Hi Wendy, thanks for sharing your mum's gorgeous quilt. It is absolutely stunning. Was she your first quilting teacher? Her winter garden scene looks so serene. Have a wonderful weekend.

The one thing I love most about Lucy Boston quilts is all the possibilities of blocks you can get by using fussy-cutting and stripes in assorted directions, and not have to worry about the direction of the grain of the fabric. Great inspiration in your post.

I was so surprised to see that Krispy Kreme has made it all the way from my south to your country! A warm glazed donut is the thing I always have if I go there.
