Holiday Sewing Part 1 - Daytripper 2.0 bag

The last two weeks have been very enjoyable.  I've had my mum and dad staying, and together mum and I have been busy sewing many things.

First up was this gorgeous Daytripper 2.0 bag.

Mum gave me the kit for Christmas.  It was a total surprise - she clearly knows me well and knew I'd love the new Kaffe Fassett Artisan fabric.

The pattern is byAnnie, but mum bought the whole kit in New Zealand from The Ribbon Rose. It even included the Soft and Stable, zips, buckles and webbing for the strap.

I made the bag "with parental supervision".  It was great to have mum in the house providing expert advice as required.  There were a few tricky bits, and I don't think I could have done it without my walking foot because there are very bulky sections.

It will be a great travel bag.  I like to have a crossbody bag like this when I go away because it leaves both hands free for getting on and off buses and trains.

I'll be able to try it out when I go on holiday next week.

Lovely bag Wendy. I have made 2 of these bags ( different designer) and have used them on my travels. As you say, the crossbody works really well for travelling!

Cross body bags are very useful and yours is so you! Glad you could spend some time with your parents.

It is a great cross-body bag. I like the recessed zipper feature especially well.
I don't buy kits very often but find bag kits are such time-savers. You don't need to shop all over to find the bits and pieces needed to complete it!

Very bright and Spring-ish. Have fun on holiday.

Oh Wendy, what a fabulous bag! Haven't you got a clever Mum who knows exactly what to choose for your Christmas gift? Have a great holiday - I bet everyone you meet will comment on it!

Happy New Year Wendy. I like your bag very much, it caught my eye because I have just got home from the Kaffe Fassett exhibittion at Monttisfont Abbey, here in England. I have been enjoying your photos of your bags and your blue skies!

What a great kit: beautiful fabric and everything you need to finish the project. I often find the problem when I want to make a bag is hunting down the bits I need before I can start. Non-hideous buckles are particularly difficult to find close to home. (Telephone calls and long drives are needed, or online shopping. :( )
Parental supervision? Hee hee.
